Tutorial to get your theme to work
24. Export / Import settings
Currently the standard WordPress exporter/importer allows you to migrate your posts, comments, and categories from one site to another, but it does not support the transport of widget and theme settings.
That's why it was necessary to introduce the Dottoro export/import functions that allow you to migrate your widget and theme settings from a site to another one.
So you are able to clone your whole website in a few minutes.
Just use the WordPress exporter (Tools » Export) together with the Dottoro exporter (Theme Options » Export/Import) to export and the
WordPress importer (Tools » Import) together with the Dottoro importer to import your website settings.
Our demo content was created the exact same way.
You can read more about importing on the
WordPress Codex Importing Content page.
Note: Dottoro does not export all of your WordPress settings only the Dottoro theme specific settings and your home page setting. The other settings (such as site title, tagline, permalink structure) need to be manually set after importing.
How to migrate post thumbnails to Dottoro theme
If you have just switched from your theme to Dottoro theme and your previous theme supports Post Thumbnails (Featured Image), you will notice that post thumbnails do not appear in Dottoro theme.
This is because Dottoro theme handles post thumbnails differently.
You can set two images for every post, one image to display in post lists and another one to display on the post page.
Just click on the 'Import Thumbnails' button to automatically migrate featured images to the Dottoro theme.
But please note, this will override the Dottoro thumbnail settings of posts with their featured image settings!
